This website is currently an all volunteer effort that is not funded or partnered with any organization or private donor.
In time, as the project grows, it’s highly likely RFPF will establish a board of directors and secure 501(C)3 not-for-profit incorporation. If you are interested in being a board member or providing seed funding to accelerate this process please contact the website’s creator here.
Mission Statement: Rather than destroying forests for money, foresters of the future will instead be conductors of an all-inclusive symphony of curiosity and meaningful participation in the advancement of taxonomy, hydrology, geology, rhizopheric and canopy ecology, ornithology, entomology, herpetology, ichthyology and wildlife biology.
How it started: In ongoing discussions with forest protection advocates in Canada, the US and beyond we’ve realized the need for better representation in academia.
Too often the type of forestry that’s taught in school is at odds with not just advancing the natural sciences, but offers very little of the knowledge that forest protectors have learned.
Forest protection via non-destructive management techniques is essential to the environmental challenges humanity faces as we head into the mid-2020’s.
Our Vision: Instead of Registered Professional Foresters (RPFs) who are experts in all the details of why cutting down trees is a benefit that perpetuates their job we are Registered Forest Protection Foresters (RFPFs) who are experts in all the details of why NOT cutting down trees is a benefit to our future planet’s job.
Truth is the value of forests left standing has never been higher!
This website will initiate an academic curriculum writing coalition so prolific that we will become the most dominant type of forestry taught in higher education in the 2030’s.
The first text book starts in draft form with every post to this website by participating forest protectors. Learn more about these RFPFs here.
